American Tescor was founded in 1979 by Dr. Peter Bullard, an innovative industrial/organizational psychologist specializing in psychometrics. The original version of the Tescor survey was developed by Dr. Bullard and a team of psychologists to reduce employee theft in the retail industry. While providing its value in lowering theft losses, Tescor screening had a parallel effect in reducing workers’ compensation losses. As the power of Tescor’s behavioral psychological assessment was discovered, the company began servicing a national clientele in a wide variety of industries.
With offices in Oregon and Arizona, American Tescor provides behavioral psychological assessment services in all 50 states, Canada, and several Caribbean countries. Our customer base has now grown to the point where we are screening more than 20,000 applicants a week.
American Tescor has been a world class leader in producing benchmarking studies measuring Tescor’s impact on employment risks – especially workers’ compensation losses. In a dozen major controlled studies involving nearly 400,000 workers since 1996, the average worker’s compensation loss rates of Tescor screened workers have proven to be 63% less than their counterparts who were not screened by American Tescor.
In October 2006, American Tescor was acquired by Merchants Information Solutions, Inc. This Phoenix-based company has been in business since 1912.
